Google Just Gave You a Free Window Into Your AI Search Visibility

Google's Search Console AI reports are now live worldwide, showing which of your pages appear in AI Overviews and AI Mode. Here's how to check yours.

Google just made it possible to check, for free, whether your business is actually showing up inside its AI-generated search results. As of August 31, the Search Console AI reports and opt-out controls are live worldwide, which means every local business owner with a website now has a built-in way to see if pages are appearing in AI Overviews, AI Mode, and the generative features in Discover, instead of just guessing.

The Global Rollout

Google rolled out its Search Console AI reports to every account globally, after testing them with a limited group. The report shows impressions from AI features broken down by individual page, country, and date, so you can see which of your pages Google's AI systems are pulling from and where those appearances are happening geographically. Alongside the report, Google added a toggle letting site owners opt out of AI features entirely, stating that opting out will not affect ranking in other parts of Search.

There is an important limit here: the report only shows where you appear, not whether that appearance sent anyone to your site. It is closer to a checklist than a performance dashboard, no click or engagement data included.

The First Real Window Into AI Visibility

Until now, local businesses had almost no way to know if Google's AI answers were even aware their site existed. A plumber, a consulting firm, a dentist, any of them could rank well in traditional search and still be invisible inside an AI Overview answering "best plumber near Denver." This report is the first real, first-party evidence of whether that is happening to you, page by page.

This is the first time Google has given business owners a direct, if incomplete, window into whether their own pages show up inside its AI answers.

It is also worth pairing this with patience. Google's John Mueller noted separately that fixes tied to broader algorithm and visibility changes can take months to show measurable effect, not days. Treat this new report as a trend to watch over weeks, not a scoreboard to refresh daily.

Making the Report Part of Your Routine

  • Log into Search Console today and look for the new AI reports, most owners have never opened this section before.

  • Check which specific pages show up in AI features and which don't. That tells you what content Google's AI systems already trust enough to reference.

  • Come back every few weeks and compare the trend by date, one snapshot tells you little; the direction over time tells you more.

  • Think carefully before using the opt-out toggle. Google says it won't hurt your regular rankings, so weigh it against whether AI mentions are actually sending you business or just borrowing your content for free.

  • Don't panic over a slow week. Visibility inside AI answers appears to move on the same slow timeline as broader ranking changes.

Five minutes inside a report you already have access to is the whole ask here, no new tool, no new budget. Check it, note what you see, and check back in a few weeks.
